Jefferson Aleman is the creator of Descubriendo la Florida / Discovering Florida, a long-term documentary project that explores the geography, history, and communities of the Sunshine State through long-distance bicycle routes. Since 2010, he has traveled thousands of miles across Florida, documenting towns, rural landscapes, wetlands, and historically significant corridors rarely featured in traditional guidebooks.
His work blends travel writing with local history and environmental observation, presenting Florida from the perspective of back roads rather than tourist routes. Through photography, research, and field exploration, the series builds a growing portrait of Florida as a living landscape shaped by time, people, and place.
