😲Tiger eyes, brightly burning?🐅3.5-4 🌟 I liked the world building here, the first I'd read in Carlton's Mirror Academy series. The tweak & modernization of Beauty & the Beast tale provided extra suspense when Academy girls go missing or incommunicado & the "curse" male lead Therion endures thanks to his lack of hospitality to a stranger in a storm is not the only "curse" that hangs over the characters. Surprises when the curse is broken! Intelligent female lead, racy burst towards the end.

This book was fun to read. There were connections to the other other 2 books and hints about future books (I think), but nothing really falls into spoiler territory, so I think these books can be read in any order so far. The world is fascinating, the characters are fun to read, the plot is mysterious and interesting, and the romance is steamy. Overall, this is a fun short story to read. I received a copy from the author and this is my honest review.

This is a fairy tale retelling but with a shifter twist where Therion is a man part of the time. This is good so that he can meet and interact with Rosalind. Some drama, fun scenes, and surprises kept it fun and entertaining to read. Enjoyed the story and the characters and wanted to see how they would get their happy ending.
