"Reckless. Undisciplined. Arrogant," are the three opening words of this book and they do a pretty good job as a review of it also. The book is well written in a linguistic sense, but is let down terribly by the fractured story line, and the massive leaps of faith the author expects the reader to take. Let me explain... Good sci-fi gets to play games with science, and introduce fantastical concepts because it doesn't go too far in one step. As a reader, even though we know that artistic liberties are being taken, it doesn't break immersion, we are kept on the page and in the story. Linkage doesn't manage to do this, many many times I found my immersion being broken, and thinking to myself "this is ridiculous." A case of trying too hard. My advice to the author would be that sometimes, less is more.

The book was barely tolerable to read. Too much writing about mundane and uninteresting things like the character's routine when waking up. This is a slow read, and written as a screenplay, as if the author badly wants to turn this into a movie. None of the character's are relatable and many times annoying. One minute the lead character is a scientist and the next he's kicking in doors and firing weapons like a marine, then immediately he's behaving like an adolescent. There is so much more to say....

There's no two ways about it. This is a terrible book. The story makes no sense at all and the main characters backstory is just bizzarre, something like Annie crossed with Buck Rodgers There is no attempt to keep any sense of the possibly believable at all.
