How to Catholic Family: Nurturing Faith in the Messiness of Everyday Life

This book is a practical, encouraging guide for “the rest of us”: Catholic parents that want to impart the faith to their children but aren’t quite sure where to start. Topics include leading by example, having conversations about faith, reading the Bible as a family, learning about the Saints, praying together, learning what the Mass means, celebrating special/feast days and liturgical seasons (Advent, Lent), and finding community with other Catholic families. Tommy and Karen emphasize that this a doable task and, with humor, let the reader know that there will be plenty of “fails” along the way but not to give up trying to develop a faith-filled family life.

About the author

Tommy and Karen have been happily married since 2007. They have five beautiful sons, and aren't really sure how they do it (just in case you were going to ask). They enjoy spending time as a family, hiking local trails, dancing silly in their living room, and convincing grandma to babysit so they can sneak out for a date night. Tommy and Karen live in Livermore, CA and are most likely wrangling their children in the pews of their local parish or wiping peanut butter off the walls as you read this. While Karen clearly has the harder gig, she thoroughly enjoys staying at home with the boys, even on the craziest of days. Tommy spends his spare time as a licensed marriage and family therapist, as co-host of The Catholic Hipster Podcast, and as co-host of the CatholicTV series Repent & Submit. He is the author of The Catholic Hipster Handbook (2017).
