It's a great book for those who want to learn about the people of India during 18th and 19th centuries - their mindset, tactics to stay ahead of fellow countrymen, static relations. After reading this book, I can say with confidence, to this day, that people of this country is same as the author has described. And may be it's true that people stayed this way for thousands of years. Every foreigner, who wants to visit India for whatever reason, should try to read this book.
