Yang terpenting dalam buku ini ialah memanfaatkan kesempatan yang sangat sempit untuk memotret. Proses/ momentum/ kesempatan pengambilan foto merupakan hal yang utama, kemudian menyusul kualitas foto itu sendiri dari segi ‘seni’ (yang tentu saja sangat relatif dan subjektif) maupun pesan yang terkandung di dalamnya. Dengan tersedianya berbagai kamera saku atau kamerakamera otomatis canggih lainnya, sangat membantu hobi menjepret ini. ‘Kepiawaian’ memanfaatkan fitur-fitur otomatis dan pilihan-pilihan yang ada dalam kamera itu akan membantu untuk mendapatkan gambar yang lebih baik, antara lain: berbagai peristiwa sehari-hari, pilihan pemandangan, orang, suasana malam hari, matahari terbenam, ombak dan banyak lagi yang lainnya. 

Upaya ekstra diperlukan untuk memanfaatkan momentum tertentu: misalnya menjepret ‘matahari terbit’ diatas awan dalam penerbangan internasional jarak jauh, bukan perkara gampang. Tempat duduk dekat jendela sangat penting. Penulis harus bangun tidur lebih awal, di saat penumpang lainnya tidur pulas. Berpacu dengan waktu. Sedikit terlambat, kesempatan hilang, waktu terbuang.

About the author

Born in Sibanggede Village, Badung, Bali, on December 7, 1948, is the youngest child of a farming family. He completed his elementary education at Darmasaba in 1961, followed by Junior High School (SMP Negeri I Denpasar) and Senior High School (SMA Negeri I Denpasar). He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University (Unud) in 1975. He became a Specialist in Cardiology and Vascular Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia (UI), Jakarta, in 1981. He earned a Doctorate in Health Sciences in 1992 from Airlangga University (UNAIR), Surabaya, and was appointed as a Professor of Cardiology in 1995.  

He served as Deputy Dean I of the Faculty of Medicine (1994-1998) and Deputy Rector I of Udayana University (1998-2001). He was the Rector of Udayana University (2001-2005), a Member of the Board of Trustees of ISI Denpasar (2017-present), Head of the Cardiology and Vascular Medicine Study Program at Udayana University’s Faculty of Medicine (2009-2017), and a Member of the Supervisory Board of Sanglah Hospital, Denpasar (2007-2011). Additionally, he was the Head of the Integrated Heart Service Unit at Sanglah General Hospital (2012-2018).  

He has held various leadership roles, including General Chair of the Udayana University Alumni Association (IKAYANA) Central (2006-2010), IV Vice Chairman (Sociocultural) of the Indonesian Hindu Dharma Council (PHDI) Central (2006-2011), and General Chair of the Denpasar SMAN I Alumni Association. He also served as General Chair of Maha Gotra Pasek Sanak Sapta Resi (MGPSSR) Central Indonesia (2014-2024), after previously serving as Provincial Chair for Bali (2004-2014).  

He was the former Chair of the Healthy Heart Club and the Bali Main Branch of the Indonesian Heart Foundation. He also served as Vice Chair of the Central Management of the Indonesian Society of Cardiology and Vascular Specialists (PERKI) (2002-2004) and Chair of the Widhya Kerti Education Foundation of the Hindu University of Indonesia (UNHI) (2007-2012).  

His published works include *Jepret Sana Jepret Sini: Kesempatan Memotret dalam Kesempitan, Volume I* (2013), *Memimpin Perguruan Tinggi: Berangkat dari Kegagalan* (2004), *Suksesi: Miniatur Pertarungan Politik Kampus* (2005), and *Cintailah Jantung Anda: Penyakit Jantung Koroner (Serangan Jantung)* (2016). Forthcoming in 2025 is *I Wayan Wita 77 Th.: Semboyan Hidup 7S*.
