About this ebook

Roni

After I suddenly lose my husband, Patrick, in a senseless shooting, I’m lost in a sea of well-meaning people trying to make the unimaginable seem possible. How am I supposed to go on without the man who's been at the center of my life for nearly a decade? My friends and family do what they can for me, but I quickly realize that surviving this loss is going to be on me. One day to the next, I have to make the decision to go on, but life isn’t done throwing me ringers, and just when I think I’ve got this young widow game figured out, I find out how wrong I am. When a friend of my sister’s connects me to the Wild Widows, I find a group of fellow travelers who understand my new reality in a way no one else in my life ever could. The Wild Widows have one requirement for membership to their group—I must be open to the possibility of a Chapter 2, which is what they call a second chance at love. While I’m not in any way looking for or ready for a Chapter 2, if I’ve learned anything it’s that I’m not in control of where this journey will take me.

Come along as Roni and the other Wild Widows navigate their new realities with grace, humor and compassion. They will make you laugh and cry and root for each and every one of them in this exciting, heartfelt new series from New York Times bestselling author Marie Force.

5 Star Review of Someone Like You (Wild Widows #1) by Marie Force Wow, Someone Like You, the first book in the Wild Widows Series, a spin off from the Fatal Affairs and First Family series from Marie Force certainly packs a punch. This book was an emotional roller coaster of a read and one I couldn’t put down once I started it. We met Roni Connolly in Fatal Reckoning when tragedy struck and devastated her life, so I couldn’t wait to see what Ms. Force had in store for her. This book was everything I was expecting and so much more. If this book is anything to go by, Marie Force has yet another winning series on her hands. This book got to me on a number of levels and I felt as though it burrowed into my soul. My emotions were all over the place; there were times that I laughed and times that I cried but throughout this read I felt the hope, love and support that surrounded Roni. There were times that my heart broke for Roni and the devastating grief that appears to be smothering her. This story tackles a number of difficult issues and Ms. Force handled them with grace and dignity; she didn’t shy away from the hard realities that life can throw at us. This is a story of hope and second chances, it was realistic, emotional and extremely well written.

I knew going onto this story it was going to be heartbreaking and hopefully joyful to. “It’s an official group?” “Yep. We call ourselves the Wild Widows.” The name makes me laugh. “Okay…” I’m trying to be very careful in what I say here I don’t want to spoil anything. If I could I’d give it all the stars I would that’s how excellent this story is. It will give you all the feels sad , happy , angry I could go on and on. “We have one rule, and that is everyone who joins us has to be open to the idea of what we call a Chapter 2, or a second chance at love. The hero is the most compassionate patient swoon worthy perfect man she could have picked. “The beautiful thing is that we’re allowed to be forever in love with the people we lost, and we’re allowed to entertain the possibility of new people in our lives, too. We get cameos from our favorites first family. This is a beautifully written story about love lost and found again. Get It Now!!

4.5 stars--SOMEONE LIKE YOU is the first instalment in Marie Force’s contemporary adult WILD WIDOWS romance series-a spin off from the author’s romantic suspense FORCE series. This is twenty-nine year old widow Veronica ‘Roni’ Connolly’s story line. Roni’s story begins in Fatal Reckoning (Fatal #14). As per the author’s request, the hero’s name will not be revealed . Told from dual first person perspectives SOMEONE LIKE YOU follows in the aftermath of the murder of Roni’s husband Patrick, a stray bullet meant for someone else. Meeting police lieutenant and first lady Sam Holland throughout the investigation into her husband’s murder, Roni becomes quick friends with the US President’s wife, a friendship that will afford her the offer as the first lady’s White House communications director but first Roni must take a small step towards recovery and acceptance, having been welcomed into the a group known as the ‘Wild Widows’, a club for recently widowed singles who are struggling to move on where she will meet the man who will steal her heart. What ensues is the slow building romance and relationship between Roni and her new man, as our couple must navigate the ups and downs of widowhood; the judgemental people in and out of their lives; the ethical conundrum of once again finding love; and the grief, recovery and welcome surprises along the way. The relationship between Roni and our hero is one of mutual grief. Never expecting to meet someone that could fill the void, Roni’s growing relationship is slow to develop as each must come to terms with what happened in the past. The lone $ex scene is passionate and heart warming. The wonderful secondary and supporting characters include Nick and Sam (Force Series), as well as both extended families including Roni’s former in-laws Peter and Susan. We are introduced to the Wild Widows members: Iris, Gage, Aidan, Brielle, Naomi, Aurora, Lexi, Kinsley, Hallie and Christy-all of whom have a tragic story of love and loss. Iris and Gage’s story is next in SOMEONE TO HOLD. SOMEONE LIKE YOU is a story of grief and recovery, loss and acceptance, loneliness, relationships, friendships and love. The premise is powerful, raw and heart warming; the romance is emotional and subtle; the characters are real, intense and dynamic.
