Good instructions and tips for techniques covered: crochet, knitting, netting, mesh work, needle lace, tatting, embroidery over threads (i.e., needlepoint, cross stitch, and vertical stitches are viewed as variations of the same basic technique). Unfortunately there are few illustrations for technique basics, but the excellence of the author's choice of words usually compensates for the missing image. The illustrations and text are complete and legible, although some illustrations are muddied and lack the desired detail. The section on netting includes variations on the plain net ground which I do not recall seeing in other sources. The author discusses the supplies used with careful detail, allowing the reader to easily identify similar modern materials in many cases.
