About this ebook

"[Tyson] tackles a great range of subjects…with great humor, humility, and—most important—humanity." —Entertainment Weekly

Loyal readers of the monthly "Universe" essays in Natural History magazine have long recognized Neil deGrasse Tyson's talent for guiding them through the mysteries of the cosmos with clarity and enthusiasm. Bringing together more than forty of Tyson's favorite essays, Death by Black Hole explores a myriad of cosmic topics, from what it would be like to be inside a black hole to the movie industry's feeble efforts to get its night skies right. One of America's best-known astrophysicists, Tyson is a natural teacher who simplifies the complexities of astrophysics while sharing his infectious fascination for our universe.

I really like this book and Tyson but his arguments against the existence of God show that, although he is a brilliant scientist, he doesn't understand the nature of Diety very well. The flaws in the human body and the chaos in the universe aren't evidence against God's existence. No religion that I'm aware of portrays God as a ceo trying to make things as efficient as possible. The flaws, chaos and problems are intentional to help us, His children, become everything we can. As a parent I think Tyson would understand this better. But in the realm of science Tyson is one of the best, he makes it fun and captures the wonder of space better than most.

My name is aTyler and i am a 10th grader in high school (2017). I decided to do a book report and I couldn't find any intriguing books to read. I eventually saw this, read the sample, and then bought the book. Although I have had trouble reading it (at first), I would still recommend it to anyone wanting to know more about space. I got an A on my project, due to my amazing summarization of this beautiful book. Thanks Neil Degrasse Tyson (Hopefully I spelt that correctly). -Best of luck reading it, Tyler.

Have a physical copy of this book, and am unimpressed. The author sounds rather arrogant at times, and although I have been interested in astronomy and astrophysics for years, this book seems quite uninspiring.
