Karl Alexander's day started with taking the most obnoxious Hollywood star on a low-orbit space tour.

By lunchtime, he inadvertently triggered a world war.

Then things got really bad.

Karl, a former USMC Harrier pilot, NASA astronaut, and Space Tourism pilot had always been an adrenaline junkie, but he quickly finds himself in over his head. He's swept up in an insane secret operation—the work of American CIA and British MI-6 agents—being helped by a family of resistance fighters and led by an Iranian-born deep-cover agent that he doesn't begin to trust. Soon he's trapped in an all-out chase to stop a squad of kamikazes armed with notes who are rushing to drop their deadly payload onto U.S. troops and Israeli citizens.

Throughout the harrowing adventure, Karl is haunted by the memory of his first combat mission as a Marine Harrier pilot. Somehow, he knows what he learned twenty years ago just might save the world today.

About the author

Basil Sands doesn't just write stories; he's lived a lot of what they contain. The backdrop for his writing started with his birth in rural interior Alaska and his school years among the Ohio cornfields, where he wished to be anywhere else as long as it was exciting. He has lived in Alaska, San Diego, DC, Baltimore, and Ohio. He tried a career in the Marines. After injuries sent him home early, he worked at the NSA, owned a computer shot, was a carpenter, farmer, actor, and various other jobs. He is also a professional Audiobook narrator, with scores of titles recorded for numerous major publishers.

Until a ski injury in 2008, Sands was an avid weight lifter and could bench press 420 lbs. Now he's limited to a bit on the elliptical machine each day, as well as hefting his laptop and an occasional pint of Guinness.

He served on the Board of Directors for the Alaska Writer's Guild, is a member of the Military Writer's Society of America and International Thriller Writers (ITW), and is a regular contributing editor to ITW's THE BIG THRILL Magazine.

He lives in Anchorage, Alaska with his wife and sons.

Pike Logan tracks highly-trained Russian assassins to Brazil in this blistering, action-packed thriller from New York Times bestselling author and former Special Forces Officer Brad Taylor.

Pike Logan and the Taskforce were once the apex predators, an unrivaled hunting machine that decimated those out to harm the United States, but they may have met their match. While Pike Logan and Jennifer Cahill prepare to join their team on a counter-terrorist mission in the triple frontier—the lawless tri-border region where Argentina, Brazil, and Paraguay meet—they are targeted in Charleston, South Carolina. A vicious explosion kills a friend, and the perpetrators have set it up to look like an accident. While the authorities believe this was not foul play, Pike knows the attack was meant for him.

When he loses contact with the team in South America, Pike is convinced he and the Taskforce are under assault. His men are the closest thing to family that Pike has, which means he will do anything, even ignore direct orders to stand down, to find them. Pike and Jennifer head to Brazil to investigate their disappearance and run headlong into a crew of Russian assassins. Within days they are entangled in a byzantine scheme involving Brazilian politics and a cut-throat battle for control of offshore oil fields.

Forged in combat, the Russians are the equal of anything the Taskforce has encountered before, but they make a mistake in attacking Pike’s team, because Pike has a couple of elite Israeli assassins of his own. And Pike will stop at nothing to protect his family.
