About this ebook

A strong-willed beauty finds herself in the arms of the handsome drifter from her past, in this second book in the sizzling series set in the Old West, from USA Today bestselling author Beverly Jenkins.

All it takes is one touch . . .

As manager of one of the finest hotels in Arizona Territory, Portia Carmichael has respect and stability—qualities sorely missing from her harsh childhood. She refuses to jeopardize that by hitching herself to the wrong man. Suitors are plentiful, but none of them has ever looked quite as tempting as the family friend who just rode into town…and none has looked at her with such intensity and heat.

Duchess. That’s the nickname Kent Randolph gave Portia when she was a young girl. Now she’s a stunning, intelligent woman—and Kent has learned his share of hard lessons. After drifting through the West, he’s learned the value of a place to settle down, and in Portia’s arms he’s found that and more. But convincing her to trust him with her heart, not just her passion, will be the greatest challenge he’s known—and one he intends to win…

interesting and a bit more provocative than the first book. this author is an excellent character writer. but the pace of the stories is lacking; generally too fast, at times too slow. good build on bringing in past characters.

Bj you did it again. This was an excellent read i wish i could write as good as you. Your books lets me laughs and cry Sometimes at the same time. I have to go back and read about Eddy and Rhine i wanted to see if you touched on why they never had had kids, i was sad for that aspect that Eddy never conceived. Portia and Kent was a wonderful love story i can't wait to read about Regan and see if she finally found love and have a happy ever after love. Thanks Mrs. Jenkins Please keep writing.

I enjoyed Breathless so much that I finished it in one sitting! Portia and her sister Regan were first introduced to us during the telling of their Aunt Eddy and Rhine Fontaine's adventurous romance in Forbidden, the first book in Ms. Jenkins' Old West series. At that time, 12 year old Portia was a very angry and scared young girl, who for months until her prostitute mother abandoned both her and Regan, had been threatened with the selling of her virginity by her mother to the highest bidder. She became acquainted with 18 year old Kent Randolph, while he was working as a bartender in the saloon that Rhine owned at the time. In Breathless, Portia and Kent are unprepared for the immediate attraction they feel for each other, upon meeting again for the 1st time in 15 years. After experiencing the unfolding of their relationship against an action filled backdrop of murder, arson, and kidnapping, I am certain that every reader of this exceptional story will revisit it again and again!
