About this ebook

One morning in February, Clovis Hartford ran an errand for her employer at the Courthouse. She arrived just in time to witness six murders in the courtroom she intended to enter. Other than a defense attorney who was in total shock, Clovis was the only eye witness. It became obvious she would have to testify when one of the shooters was captured a few weeks later. The authorities advised her to consider the Federal Witness Protection program after her testimony. Her husband, Harry Hartford, refused to go with her. If she insisted on testifying and would prefer living as someone else instead of staying at home with him, she could go into Witness Protection alone. She was shocked that material things meant more to Harry than she did - his wife of more than thirty years. This novel follows Clovis into Witness Protection and tells the story of starting over, alone. She has regrets, but knows she would have had to testify if she wanted to or not. She is homesick and misses the closeness of a spouse, the comforts of her family. Her new location is only a thousand miles from her home in Arcadia, California but may as well be on the moon. She keeps informed of her family by checking her youngest daughter ́s MySpace page. The ups and downs of every day living is complicated only because she can ́t confide in any of her new friends. The story has romance, attempts on her life, success in a new occupation and a neighbor so totally deranged she puts a snake in our heroine ́s mailbox. This isn ́t your Auntie ́s romance novel by any means. But there is a touch of romance.
