About this ebook

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER The Racketeer is guilty of only one thing: keeping us engaged until the very last page.”—USA Today In the history of the United States, only four active federal judges have been murdered. Judge Raymond Fawcett has just become number five.

His body is found in his remote lakeside cabin. There is no sign of forced entry or struggle. Just two dead bodies: Judge Fawcett and his young secretary. And one large, state-of-the-art, extremely secure safe, opened and emptied.

One man, a former attorney, knows who killed Judge Fawcett, and why. But that man, Malcolm Bannister, is currently residing in the Federal Prison Camp near Frostburg, Maryland. Though serving time, Malcolm has an ace up his sleeve. He has information the FBI would love to know. Malcolm would love to tell them. But everything has a price—and the man known as the Racketeer wasn’t born yesterday.

Great book, as always with Grisham. Yet, after having read so many of his books and loved them all, my expectations are so high that I thought this one had something missing. Quite different from the typical Grisham style, almost feels like someone else might have written it, or like it was written in hurry. But, one thing is certain: it's as great a page turner as any of his books. And really, really loved the twists... It would (and I'm sure it will) make a GREAT movie. Meant for the big screen

The beginning of the book had alot to draw you in and seemed like a good book. About half way through you can figure out what is happening and the author seemed to lose intrest in the story. Long drawn out details of a room while quick mentions of the actual progression of the plot. Not worth reading. *spoiler aleart now* ends with a high five and a dip in the ocean.

This was the first Grisham book I've read and I hope that it isn't like the rest. The quality of writing is fine, as are the characters, but the plot of this piece of work is terrible. I know this is a thriller type story, but the reader should have some idea what's to come. I spent this entire book scratching my head, trying to figure out what the character was up to in the worst possible way, all for a payoff that had me wanting my time back. That's not a thriller, that's just bad writing.
