I was actually surprised by this book. I was expecting some kind of MC, thuggish, mafia, gangster, BDSM violence book. This book surprised me with Diesel's occupation, his sister's experience throughout the book, Ciara's history, and the entire BDSM aspect. There was a lot of unexpected emotion in this story. For Diesel's sister to begin the book as a deceased relative and have so much importance throughout the book really gave me pause. I actually did not expect this book to be so thought provoking. The book incorporated homelessness, healthcare and the associated decisions, stereotypes, secrets, love, loyalty, and different visions of family. As I read further into the book and more twists and turns were added, it truly held my interest. I will admit, as it got closer to the end, I started to get a little confused with all of the characters. That might have been because this was the first book I read in the series, although it was the 3rd book in the series. I actually want to go back and read books 1 & 2. Diesel and Ciara meet because of a tragedy but it will lead them along a path that brings not only love in their lives but the addition of family neither knew they had. This is an emotional story that touches the heart and have you cheering Diesel and Ciara on to a well deserved happily ever after!
