For this reason, in conveying basic material for designing a residential interior, the design process is carried out more simply, involving input, process and output.
Interior project has a client who will give the task and design brief, and there is a contractor who works on the project in the field. Designer is also a consultant who provides ideas and solutions, creates working drawings and presentation drawings which will then be given to the assignee to calculate the cost of works based on the design proposed.
It is hoped that this course material can provide explanations regarding the design process in designing residential interiors. Although the process carried out is not as complete as in real projects, mastering spatial programming in residential projects is the main focus in learning the basics of the interior design process.
About the author
Amarena Nediari graduated from Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Trisakti University majoring in Interior Design in 2000 and completed her master’s degree in degree in Product Design Study Program, Trisakti University in 2015. Currently working as Enrichment Program Coordinator, Interior Design Department, School of Design – BINUS University. Based on her experience and comprehension in furniture retail company, she believes that good design is a design that provide solutions for everyday life. Since 2008, she has been dedicated Faculty Member at School of Design, BINUS University and teaching Essential Design courses, namely Technical Drawing courses, Interior Design Basic Projects and Interior Advance Projects. In addition to teaching, Amarena is also actively involved in interior designer associations in HDII Jakarta by contributing for education program activities and inviting interior design students in collaborative activities between universities and industries.
Dila Hendrassukma obtained her Interior Design Degree from Pelita Harapan University. She then took Post Graduate program (Master of Interior Design) at Swinburne University of Technology, Australia, where she learned a lot about developing ideas and shaped her design way of thinking, prior to teaching at BINUS University. Her passion in designing interior space still being channeled into several of her personal projects, which gives enrichment onto subjects she teaches for the last 9 years, included are Interior Design Advance Projects, and Visual Merchandising.
Angela Oscario is an academic and professional in visual communication design. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Visual Communication Design from Bina Nusantara University in 2007 and a Master’s degree in Product Design from Trisakti University in 2014. Since 2010, she has been a dedicated faculty member at the School of Design, Binus University, inspiring students with her passion for visual storytelling and design fundamentals. Angela's expertise extends to creativity and visual concepts for advertising campaigns, areas she integrates into both her research and teaching endeavors.
Agnes Paulina Gunawan graduated from Trisakti University Jakarta, in 2001 completed her Bachelor degree in Faculty of Art and Design, Photography Study Program.
Completed her Master degree in Product Design Study Program Trisakti in 2016. Being a lecturer as Faculty Member at School of Design, Binus University since 2002, to share her passion for photography with students and try to enhancing their creative skills.
Active as team teaching at Photography and Photography for Commercial Projects courses.
She developed an interest in visual elemens and lighting exploration at studio as focus topics in her research and artworks.
Suyin Pramono is a lecturer with over 15 years of experience teaching interior design courses and design innovation in business at the Master of Design program at Bina Nusantara University. Suyin holds a Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design from Trisakti University, a Master’s degree in Design from Trisakti University, and a Doctorate in Fine Arts and Design from the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB). In addition to teaching, Suyin is an active practitioner with over 25 years of experience in residential, retail, office, hotel, and other public interior projects. Suyin is also involved in various social activities, particularly those related to cultural heritage, Peranakan communities, and culture. She serves actively as the Chair of Preservation for the Indonesian Batik Foundation and the Indonesian Cultural Heritage Foundation and leads as the Head Curator for young creatives in exhibitions showcasing Indonesian batik and culture.
