Personally, I found the main character a bit too wimpy for my liking. She is most certainly not independent and she depends far too much on finding a man to take care of her rather than forging her own path. Now, if you love romance, and only romance books, you'd probably enjoy this series. But, if you're like me and you like books with strong heroines who fight first, love later, and are immersive you will definitely not enjoy this book. The main plot is dull and there are a lot of flaws in the world lore.

My first impression of this book was very positive. The cover seemed nice and the first pages reminded me of my favorite book, Pride and Prejudice. However, as the story progressed, it seemed to fall into cliché after cliché. America's character is, well, weak, boring and forced. It's like the author is forcing us to like her. The plot has many holes, especially with the history of the country and the rebel attacks. I would recommend this book to an immature reader. This book is all fluff.

I've finished this book two days ago, and since yesterday I've been drowning in the 2nd book, The Elite. I wonder, what kind of genre these series are? I went to browsing and found that this was a young-adult novel. I bought the translation vers (it's none other because I was just randomly picked various books through online shop), and I think there were skipped scenes here and there. It's ok tho.
