She was hostage to his wicked will, forced to assist in his terrible atrocities on pain of death—until Gideon, the last one who believed in her goodness, died in her place. Haunted by Gideon’s final gift, and hunted by former allies, Liliana now returns to a place she’d thought she’d never see again, the only place she has left: home.

Ratings and reviews

Many people are giving this book a terrible score based off of what preconceived or anticipated should or would happen. That will set you up for disaster. You should go into this novel from the War of the Spark novel with an open mind. Understand that War is gell, it changes everyone both in real life and in a fictional life. There characters have changed due to what transpired, many think that the build up characters were just completely erased but they were not. Hopefully this will help everyone.

Just awful they took the relationships Chandra and Nissa had and censored it for whatever reason the company had. Some say it was to pander to a the Chinese government. Not only that but the writing has no awareness of the characters personalities from previous books. This resulted in dry out of character lines that seemed to just be ticking off a checkbox for plot points.

I liked most of it. Right up until the end. You effectively killed off Liliana. She is no longer significant. One of my absolute favorite characters is now gone. Terrible ending. Something I wish I could remove from the continuity of MTG's story entirely. A disappointing end for a character with so much potential.

Greg Weisman’s career in television and comic books spans decades. After starting as an editor for DC Comics, where he also wrote Captain Atom, he created and developed Disney’s original series Gargoyles, later writing the Gargoyles and Gargoyles: Bad Guys comic books for SLG Publishing. He has worked as a writer, producer, story editor, and voice actor on Sony’s The Spectacular Spider-Man and Warner Bros.’s Young Justice, and as a writer and executive producer on the first season of Star Wars Rebels. His comic book writing credits include DC’s Young Justice, Star Wars: Kanan, and Marvel’s Starbrand and Nightmask. Weisman also wrote the original novels Rain of the Ghosts and Spirits of Ash and Foam, as well as the World of Warcroft novels World of Warcraft: Traveler and World of Warcraft: Traveler: The Spiral Path. He is blessed to have an amazing wife and two fantastic (grownup) kids.
