On every planet there are some species of animals that are becoming extinct for many different reasons. One of the biggest reasons is the destruction of their habitat and from overhunting. To save these animals it was decided to create a Sanctuary reserved only for animals. There would be no colonists and no hunting. They called the planet Artemis. The humans were chosen to be the custodians of Artemis. The Guild of Game Wardens was created and they set up Observation Post all over Artemis, not only to watch over the animals but also to prevent illegal hunting. Everything was going well for decades until the day it was suspected that a star-gate existed on Artemis. That was the day when the peace and tranquility of an animal paradise came under threat of coming to an end. 

About the author

Herbert Grosshans is a Canadian writer. He lives near Winnipeg, Canada. Already as a young boy, he was a voracious reader. He loved the old legends about Nordic gods and immortals. Thor with his war-hammer was his favorite. Stories about Kings and knights and Vikings, giants and dwarfs, wizards and witches fascinated him. When he was fourteen, he was introduced to Science Fiction. He was hooked after reading his first story. However, he also loved Westerns and Crime novels. He pretty much read everything, no matter what genre, but Science Fiction and Fantasy became his favorite. It wasn’t long before he began writing his own short stories. He also tried writing a novel. When he completed his first full-length novel ‘The Galactics’ he knew he could do it. That novel is still hiding inside an envelope in a closet and will probably never be seen or read by anyone else.

Later on in life, he concentrated mostly on writing and didn’t read as much as he used to. He wrote his stories during his lunch hour into a scribbler. At home, he pounded away on his old manual typewriter. He didn’t care too much about spelling and proper sentences. As long as the story in his head was written and put on paper.

That all changed with the arrival of computers. Suddenly, it became much easier to make changes and correct mistakes. It also created more opportunities to become published.

He published his first novel ‘Daughter of the Dark’ in 2006 with Midnight Showcase. It was the first book in his series The Xandra. The series has since grown to eight books.

So far, he has published over thirty books. The majority are, of course, Science Fiction, but a few are Detective stories and Thrillers. No Westerns—yet. Most of his stories contain Erotica.

He also published one non-fiction book with Amazon under the title ‘The Published Writer’, a guide on how to get published.
