About this ebook

“A riveting and original serial-killer saga that will keep you frantically turning pages to the hair-raising conclusion.”

~Bestselling author Emerald O’Brien

Detective Petrosky never wanted to be a killer. But he is.

Fresh off leave after a justified shooting, Edward Petrosky is battling his own brain as much as he is the world around him. His ex-wife has finally stopped calling, and he’s even pulled away from his neighbors. The chief of police might be the only person helping to keep Petrosky sober.

When a woman is found dead near a local running trail, the city goes on high alert. Not only was the victim posed, but her body had been altered as if a crazy plastic surgeon had taken a scalpel to her. This killer is meticulous, careful—in Petrosky’s experience, the most dangerous kind of psycho. But then a second victim turns up, and she hasn’t been mutilated in quite the same way. Strange for a perfectionist suspect. Had the perp been interrupted, or is there a more sinister explanation? Perhaps they’re dealing with a copycat, or a pair of killers—the citizens of Ash Park might be in more peril than Petrosky had anticipated.

But when the chief of police is abducted, the case shifts into unchartered territory. The killer they’re after doesn’t just want to play with his victims—he wants notoriety. And the only way he’ll get it is if Petrosky opens up about the case, a move that could put the chief’s life in more danger.

And that’s a risk Petrosky cannot take. Petrosky’s only shot is to find their perp before the maniac slices into his boss—the only friend he hasn’t managed to push away. Can he catch the killer and muzzle his demons? Or will this case awaken the devil he’s been trying to silence?

Composed is a dark, twisted, thrill ride from bestselling author Meghan O’Flynn. If you like J.D. Robb, Gilly Macmillan, or Claire Mackintosh, you’ll love this 8th installment from the Ash Park series!

Although this book is 8th in the series, I feel like it could be read as a standalone. I enjoyed seeing Petrosky's real feelings be portrayed and not just snark; not that I don't enjoy that as well. But in this book, we got to see a deeper side to him, and it made me feel more attached. I like a flawed hero who tries to do good and potentially better themselves, and that is exactly who Petrosky is. It was nice to see that side played out. I also enjoyed Jackson, Petrosky's partner, getting her own story as well. The banter between the two of them provides the dark and serious matter of the story with some much-needed levity. This particular storyline felt fresh and new to me. I enjoy the psychology behind the characters' actions, it makes it more believable. I did wish that I had slightly more insight into the killer's mind, but I am wondering if they won't make a reappearance in future books. Overall, this book was intriguing and kept me turning the page. When it was over, I felt like I needed more, so I am anxiously awaiting the next book.

Just another disturbing, suspenseful day in Ash Park. Petrosky as always on the verge of falling apart, but not. He's good at his job and has a big heart, so all his flaws and struggles just make you worry over him like family. But anyways, he and his partner have a case to solve! There's a serial killer out there, and all his victims have different but horrifying things done to them. Especially the first one. That one may creep you out and make it hard to sleep. And one of the victims is someone unexpected. Composed has just the right balance of scary, action, and mystery to keep the pages turning fast for me. I'm kind of addicted to the series.

This series has kept me sane during this pandemic! If you love thrillers, serial killers and a badass detective you need to read the Ash Park series! This 8th part finds Detective Petrosky questioning his abilities to find this demented killer. In the process he realizes he can trust his instincts when hunting a madman and in making smart decisions in his personal life. But Petrosky will always be that insufferable smart-ass you can't help but love! And this series keeps satisfying my sadistic side! #ashpark Meghan O'Flynn Composed is a dark, twisted, thrill ride from bestselling author Meghan O’Flynn.
