A cosmic event has brought death and destruction to planet earth. The landscape has changed. Only a small portion of the human race has survived and now they face a new threat.

Before Dr. Mark Stone retired from the Center for Disease Control, his final assignment was to move all samples of viruses and bacteria to a top secret facility in Nashville, TN—a facility strictly off the books to avoid terrorists from stealing potentially deadly diseases. The building was secured, but no one could have foretold of the massive earthquakes, floods, meteors, and tornadoes that rip the planet apart. The vials are broken, mixing and leaking into the heart of Nashville, infecting what few survivors exist. Now that the bacteria have bonded and mutated, they are face with real life zombies.

The CDC calls on one of the few surviving men with the knowledge to help them treat and contain the situation but Mark has problems of his own.

Can he get his nanotech up and running before the human race is finally erased from the planet, or will he run out of time?

Gateway is a story that reflects the modern generation drug war against kids as they are growing up. This is a story about friendship, love, addiction, self destruction, and the search for salvation. Gateway is unique in the way it follows Kellen in a first-person narrative in part one and second- person through part two of the novel. When part one of the book comes to a close, the intensity of the story in the final moments perfectly transitions into a second-person narrative, moving the reader into the eyes of Kellen. Kellen was a young boy when his mother died in a fatal car accident, her death devastated his family. When Kellen's mother died she was having an affair with a married man who miraculously survived the accident. Kellen and his brother are raised by their father; he raises them the best he can through his constant loneliness and depression. As a young teen Kellen is sent away to military school and is forced to grow up fast. He learns to fend for himself, trusting no one but a few select friends to confide in. The story takes place in Kellen's hometown of St. Louis; the Gateway City. The towering beauty of the Gateway Arch, and what it represents, is offset by the secretive underworld in which Kellen operates. In the shadows, and behind closed doors, perceptions change quickly and danger is ever present. Some of Kellen's friends make it out alive, others are not as fortunate. Follow Kellen as he battles the demons of his past, awakens the demons of his present, and later battles himself and his surroundings in an attempt to rise from the ashes and find salvation.
NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • Red Rising hit the ground running and wasted no time becoming a sensation. Golden Son continues the stunning saga of Darrow, a rebel forged by tragedy, battling to lead his oppressed people to freedom.

NAMED ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR BY NPR, BUZZFEED, AND BOOKLIST

As a Red, Darrow grew up working the mines deep beneath the surface of Mars, enduring backbreaking labor while dreaming of the better future he was building for his descendants. But the Society he faithfully served was built on lies. Darrow’s kind have been betrayed and denied by their elitist masters, the Golds—and their only path to liberation is revolution. And so Darrow sacrifices himself in the name of the greater good for which Eo, his true love and inspiration, laid down her own life. He becomes a Gold, infiltrating their privileged realm so that he can destroy it from within.

A lamb among wolves in a cruel world, Darrow finds friendship, respect, and even love—but also the wrath of powerful rivals. To wage and win the war that will change humankind’s destiny, Darrow must confront the treachery arrayed against him, overcome his all-too-human desire for retribution—and strive not for violent revolt but a hopeful rebirth. Though the road ahead is fraught with danger and deceit, Darrow must choose to follow Eo’s principles of love and justice to free his people.

He must live for more.

BONUS: This edition includes an excerpt from Pierce Brown's Morning Star.

“Gripping . . . Both author and lead character have cranked up the emotional stakes. . . . With Golden Son, Brown avoids the sophomore slump, charging the novel with the kind of dystopia-toppling action you’d expect in a trilogy ender, not a middle volume. On virtually every level, this is a sequel that hates sequels—a perfect fit for a hero who already defies the tropes. [Grade:] A”—Entertainment Weekly

“Stirring . . . Comparisons to The Hunger Games and Game of Thrones series are inevitable, for this tale has elements of both.”—Kirkus Reviews

“Brown writes layered, flawed characters . . . but plot is his most breathtaking strength. . . . Every action seems to flow into the next.”—NPR

“It’s a far superior sequel, in fact: one of the rare breed of reads that improves upon its predecessor in every conceivable category. . . . In a word, Golden Son is stunning. Never mind how little we’ve seen of 2015: Among science fiction fans, it should be a shoo-in for book of the year.”—Tordotcom
