Forget the old cliché about writing what you know: Instead, write the book you want to read, make the movie you want to watch.

And finally, stay Smart, stay out of debt, and risk being boring in the everyday world so that you have the space to be wild and daring in your imagination and your work.

In this read, I love how the content of the book matched the title. He stole the quote material from so many artists and made it his own. With some help of the quotees who said what before him.

While it is a relatively short book, it is one that I see myself coming back to time and time again. Its content is filled with 'not so obvious' obviousness. The sort of nuggets of knowledge that you want to steal and use. Definitely worth reading.

A short read about how to make it, being an artist. Reassuring, re-instating, re-enforcing ideas and beliefs acquired as a kid but sidelined as we get older. It's a book that encourages you to do! And being consistent at it!
