About this ebook

Enjoy this FREE paranormal series starter by USA Today Bestselling cozy mystery author Shéa MacLeod.

Welcome to Deepwood, Oregon, a town of witches, magic, and murder…

Emory Chastain loves her herbs and spices and spells. So much so that when she’s not baking self-confidence into chocolate chip cookies, she’s in her shop selling everything from love potions to herbal tea blends. She’s also one of the most powerful witches of the modern era.

When a strange madness afflicts seemingly unrelated people in her quirky little town, turning ordinary citizens into raving beasts, Emory and her friends are convinced there’s more to the mystery than a simple virus. Turns out they’re right. Somebody is using a magic spell to poison people, and if they don’t stop the killer, there will be more death in the town of Deepwood.

Potions, Poisons, and Peril is the first book in the paranormal cozy mystery series, Deepwood Witches Mysteries, although all books can be read as standalones. For fans of Renee George, Patti Larsen, K.J. Emerick, Sam Cheever, and Dakota Cassidy, this is the first exciting mystery in a complete series that will keep you turning pages until the satisfying and happy ending.

The book was well written. Maybe I didn't pay attention to see if it was for a teen or young audience. I found it to be more juvenile Hallmark than I expected. The development of the story and its characters were a bit basic. They didn't seem to have any real complexity. But, as I said, the book was well written and well edited. I just think I am not the target market for this series.

The story was good but there were a few places where things just sort of jumped ahead. It would have been better if the transitions were smoother. also, There were a few typos. even/ever etc.

The witchy element is spot on. The love and emotions and humour running rampant in this book is awesome. Keep writing and I will keep reading.
