대학에서 불어불문학을 전공하고 오랫동안 출판사에서 일했다. 지금은 엑스트라콘텐츠연구소에서 콘텐츠를 기획하고 관심 가는 이야기를 만화로 그리며 지낸다. 전작 『어쩌다 과학』과 『어쩌다 클래식』에서 과학자와 음악가들의 뒷이야기에 관심을 쏟았듯, 이번 책에서도 세계문학의 내로라하는 거장과 걸작들의 흥미로운 뒷이야기를 발굴하는 데 힘썼다. 알베르 카뮈를 특히 좋아하고 스콧 니어링의 오랜 팬이다. 그동안 지은 책으로 『어쩌다 클래식』 『어쩌다 과학』 『나는 더 좋은 곳으로 가고 있어요』 등이 있다.
