Kebechet is the Goddess who helps the souls through their journey from the embalming process to the Hall of Judgement. Imsety, one of Horus's sons, met Kebetchet centuries ago and was completely smitten with her. They run paths again and decided to follow their feelings this time and see where it will go. The relationship build up was gradual along with the little insight to the ba's (souls) journey. I received a free ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review

I really enjoyed this book. I have always been a fan of Egyptology and find it extremely interesting. This is the story of Kebechet and Imsety, the goddess of embalming liquid (the water during mummification) and the god who is responsible for the protection of the embalmed liver of the deceased after mummification. There are wonderful stories and information about the gods and it's definitely worth the read if you love Egyptian mythology. No steamy passion, but a beautiful story nonetheless.

This story was a little less intense with lower stakes than most books I’ve read in the series and by this author. But it was fun to read. I enjoyed what I usually do in the story, namely the character interactions and cameos by previous characters. But I also enjoyed how much this one delved into Egyptian lore, even more than the other books. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
