Eldest is everything one could expect as the sequel to Eragon and much, much more. The most intriguing aspect might be Paolini’s exploration of two different characters, keeping readers engaged whether they prefer the struggles of one or the other. The turmoil of love and responsibility joins the cast of antagonists, giving the book in increasingly mature and applicable plot. Fear not, however, for the pages are still full of gripping action and battle.

I'll sum this up very simply. The author gave Eragon too much power and it ruined the series. I've only read the first two books and struggled to get through the third and just lost interest. I'm a huge fantasy fan and Christopher Paulini lost me as a fan once he empowered Eragon with too much power.

The theme of the story is how Eragon grows along with his dragon and fights in an attempt to defeat the empire. The author put much emotion into this story making it successful. Although she could have other characters a little more. Over all this is definitely a book you should read and enjoy.
