It’s not because she has her own magic - in fact, Alice is the only human in a world of magic, which means she doesn’t have a magical bone in her body.

And it’s not because she’s special - in fact, she has no idea who she is other than the fact that she was adopted by Paul Winter when she was a baby.

She has nothing to offer the Imp - and yet, he makes her an offer: help him uncover the truth behind her best friend’s murder and he’ll help her unlock who she really is.

Alice has no idea how she is supposed to help him and he’s not saying anything either. But she can’t refuse him, even if she wants to. The truth is too important to her - even if it means forcing herself to trust someone as mischievous and as selfish as Rumpelstiltskin himself.

From the first page to the last this book was riveting. Rumple hires Alice to find a picture. While locating the picture she is also requested by Ella to find out who raped her. Trying to figure out the two mysteries get Alice into trouble. In the end she gets the answers and learns more about herself. A wonderful read that I would recommend. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

There are many reasons to enjoy this book! Alice is the character I expected her to be, rushing into things and losing her temper, but she also managed to surprise me. Her personality made everybody else take her seriously, without ever questioning her integrity or her logic. While the reveal at the end is a very smart and necessary piece to add to the Wonderland realm, I became so engrossed in the mistery, that I treated this book as a suspenseful stand-alone detective novel.
