About this ebook

An emotionally gripping romantic short story about a woman survived the trauma of giving a secret child up for adoption and a sexy, southern, wounded warrior determined to make her his…

—Kimber—

What does anyone know about love at eighteen?

All I was sure of was how much I loved my daughter… and giving her away destroyed me.

Because back then the only labels I wore proved I was unwanted.

Since we met, Trig has stood by my side. A protector. A lover.

A splinter of hope that my arms won’t always be empty.

He says he loves me, and I finally have the desire to lay my secrets bare.

Except giving Trig another reason to walk away feels a lot like sacrificing our future… And I’ve already made one decision that shattered my heart.

Set in small town North Carolina, Kimber & Trig’s love story is perfect for readers who love angsty, found family, contemporary romance with protective heroes. A steamy prequel to Shred of Decency, this book is the first in the Shattered Hearts of Carolina Series and has a guaranteed happily ever after. Grab a box of tissues for this tear-jerker and experience a roller coaster of emotions in a secret baby romance with a twist!

Splinter of Hope by Jody Kaye is a touching second‑chance romance about facing the past to embrace new beginnings. The characters feel authentic, and their journey toward healing and love is both tender and realistic. Though brief, the story delivers a powerful reminder that hope and honesty can rebuild what’s been broken. A lovely, uplifting read recommended for fans of emotional short romances. This was a Short Gorgeous Story with Soulful Love, Sacrifices, Emotions and Cute Happy moments. #My 1st by Jody and I'm definitely Going for more! *ARC Received for a honest Review.* It has been 4 years since Kimber came in Trig's life. He has since made her his and they're irrevocably in Love. This book takes us on a Journey when She Finally reveals the last piece of her past AND Afterwards How These two take their relation into Next Level. Their Beautiful Deserving Future. (Blurb) The 'thing' that Trig wants to give her? He totally Does *wink*! I loved this story! Especially The personalities of all the characters. Trig's Sweetness, Protectiveness & Patience towards Kimber was Endearing. Kimber! That woman is Darn Strong. She's made a good life for herself Even after all her struggles, and I'm very proud of her for that! All side characters were lovely❤. The epilogue was fantastic! P.s. So excited For the next Book in the series😘.

I enjoyed this "Shattered Hearts of Carolina" short story. It's a fairly quick read with an emotional and growing journey. Trig's love for Kimber but she needs to heel from her past before they can move forward. The love just pours from the pages. A really nicely developed story. Love the characters!

About the author

Before becoming an international bestselling author, Jody Kaye used to cook dinner for her family …Or so her three sons say, since she still maintains they began eating the meal ingredients for snacks around the same time.

It makes her wonder if the phrase “just 5 more minutes” only counted for video games and not toward penning the last paragraph of a romance novel?

A voracious reader, Jody has written over 25 small-town books, including the steamy southern Kingsbrier and angsty Shattered Hearts of Carolina series. Among her emotionally relatable cast of characters are coming of age twenty-year-olds and later-in-life single parents. She even threw in a psychic medium for a dash of suspense!

Jody currently resides in North Carolina with her husband, who continually proves an insta-love romance can last a lifetime—and who’s glad he talked her into being a writer and out of the bougie French stove she drooled over.

Her children have either moved out or are currently waiting in line for their take-out order. She’s hungry and hopes they ordered extra fries.
