This book is so boring. Entire chapters where nothing happens. Literally no plot, just exposition and introspection. I can tell you the whole plot on a couple sentences. *Spoiler Alert* Hester is a woman on a Puritan town who is branded with the sin of adultery and has an illegitimate child to show for it. The pastor who was her harshest critic was actually her lover and the father of the child. So maybe the people who judge you are actually jerks and hypocrites. You're welcome.

I thought I had a decent vocabulary. I don't think that after reading and re-reading parts of this book. I read The Scarlet Letter because my son, who is a junior in high school, was tasked to read this book. It's not a fun read for a teen, it was half interesting for me, an adult. If your an English major/teacher, I'm sure you'll enjoy this read, especially if you feed your spirituality.

My English teacher said that "My students were so confused when reading The Scarlet Letter. Chances are, if you cant read classic literature then you cant read at an eleventh lexile or higher." So i wanted to try this out. The. Worst. Book. EVER. It takes two paragraphs to describe everything. Is there a recognizable plot? no. An interesting character? no. Even a hint of exciting romance? no. THERE IS ONLY SADNESS AND BORING. This book is the BEANS of books. You know when you cook beans but dont add salt or pepper or garlic or onions so all you have is bland beans? Yeah. This is that but in book form.
