About this ebook

Bluestocking Lady Elise Smith is a very content spinster. She holds intellectual gatherings and attends poetry readings, mind-improving lectures, and art shows. She runs her father’s household with quiet and determine efficiency, which is why she is absolutely stunned when Papa informs his three daughters that until Lady Elise is happily settled with—gasp—a husband, he will not consider offers for his two younger daughters.

Lord Simon St. George has happily watched one friend after another become leg-shackled, taking pride in the fact that his title is secured by a brother and nephew, so there is no reason to seek a wife for himself. When he sees a woman previously unknown to him at a ball, who seems to be hiding from the rest of the attendees, he is intrigued enough to introduce himself.

Simon sees a lovely, intelligent woman to pass the time with, Elise sees a man who can help her thwart her father by pretending they are courting. But even the best plans can go awry…

I enjoyed reading this so much. But sometimes Elise comes off as selfish not willing to sacrifice anything for anyone. She speaks of wanting nothing to hamper her sisters' happiness but the choices and slow decision she makes shows otherwise. Loved Simon and his playful and respectful manners. And a little more of the sisters interactions would have been nice instead of her thinking about how young and handsome her dad looks and how women are for vying for him. Not much plot but overall a sweet read.

A most enjoyable Regency read, For the Love of the Viscount satisfied this romance reader's demands for a good love story with a satisfactory ending. Simon and Elise have beautiful chemistry and Simon's willingness to venture into Elise's world gives him bonus points. Whilst the book is a relatively short read, it is nevertheless full of content and keeps the reader guessing to the end. I do hope that Ms Hutton has something very special arranged for the Earl of Pomeroy. He deserves some special treatment given his machinations and manipulations! I received an ARC of this book, and am delighted to post my honest and voluntary review.

I laughed a lot during my reading of this darling romance. The heroine (Elise), the oldest daughter of a widowed father with monetary problems who decides he MUST marry his three daughters off to lighten his load, is an independent miss who dislikes the frivolous life of the ton and decides she will NOT marry despite her father’s wishes. The hero (Simon), who has also shown disdain for the ton’s activities and has no desire to marry, meets Elise and all of a sudden their game changes and the sparks fly. Elise’s father sees their interest in each other and decides to nudge the two so that they will marry. Oh the hijinks of all the family members that ensue make for a lively, lovely romance. I loved it!
