About this ebook

In a small North Carolina town, a mysterious and beautiful woman running from her past slowly falls for a kind-hearted store owner . . . until dark secrets begin to threaten her new life.
When a mysterious young woman named Katie appears in the small North Carolina town of Southport, her sudden arrival raises questions about her past. Beautiful yet self-effacing, Katie seems determined to avoid forming personal ties until a series of events draws her into two reluctant relationships: one with Alex, a widowed store owner with a kind heart and two young children; and another with her plainspoken single neighbor, Jo. Despite her reservations, Katie slowly begins to let down her guard, putting down roots in the close-knit community and becoming increasingly attached to Alex and his family.

But even as Katie begins to fall in love, she struggles with the dark secret that still haunts and terrifies her . . . a past that set her on a fearful, shattering journey across the country, to the sheltered oasis of Southport. With Jo's empathetic and stubborn support, Katie eventually realizes that she must choose between a life of transient safety and one of riskier rewards . . . and that in the darkest hour, love is the only true safe haven.

Safe Haven is about a woman escaping from an abusive marriage and ends up in a small town in South Carolina. The story is told with great rhythm and momentum, not too fast or too slow. This story starts strong, catching me up from the first sentence. As bits and pieces were revealed about Katie and the town, I wanted to learn more and more. She is able to find work at a small yet busy fish restaurant and rents a small cabin badly in need of repairs but is furnished and within her budget. She is diligent in saving her tips in case of an emergency, such as running away again. A woman, Jo moves in next door to Katie and develops a friendship with her, encouraging Katie to consider giving Alex, the owner of the grocery store a chance. The relationship between Alex and Katie evolve but her husband has been able to track her down. Her husband Kevin is obsessed with her, even after leaving him which prompts him to become a compulsive drinker with stronger darker mood swings. He has been suspended from work because of his drinking. Just as Katie starts to settle into her new life, her dark past catches up with her. Safe Haven is a powerful story of friendship, trust, romance, and courage. I loved this book and highly recommend to anyone who needs inspiration and a happy ending.

There was just something different with the way this book was written. And he repeated the same thing over & over, I couldn't wait to finish the book (not in a good way.)

I really, really wanted this story to pull me in, but it just didnt. I found it to be very boring, the charachters were very simple and the story was very predictable. I love Nicholas Sparks, but I was sadly just disappointed with this one..........
