The reason I loved this book isn't the main plot - boy meets girl, they fall in love, blah, blah, blah. I love it because this author can really weave a tale. She varies the words and uses colorful prose. People and places are described as part of the story instead of aside the story. Everything is intricately, interestingly, woven together. In this particular book, there are several subplots that are quite interesting. I do like a good mystery - as well as horses getting in the last "word."

This is the first book I've read that left me with no choice but to submit a "Must Read!" Status. This author combined the perfect amounts of romance, mystery, treason, and faith in the power of true love, to place it on your list of most unforgettable read books.

1st book I have read your of Claire Delacroix! Fell in love with story. Full of love, romance, deception, murder & happiness of true love! Loved Brianna & Luc!! All the characters are woven so well into this story. Must read!! New author for my book shelves!!

About the author

Deborah Cooke sold her first book in 1992, a medieval romance called The Romance of the Rose published under her pseudonym Claire Delacroix. Since then, she has published over fifty novels in a wide variety of sub-genres, including historical romance, contemporary romance, paranormal romance, fantasy romance, time-travel romance, women’s fiction, paranormal young adult and fantasy with romantic elements. She has published under the names Claire Delacroix, Claire Cross and Deborah Cooke. The Beauty, part of her successful Bride Quest series of historical romances, was her first title to land on the New York Times List of Bestselling Books. Her books routinely appear on other bestseller lists and have won numerous awards. In 2009, she was the writer-in-residence at the Toronto Public Library, the first time the library has hosted a residency focused on the romance genre.
