I would like to thank my co-conspirator, business partner and friend Ian Turnbull - it has been quite a ride!!!! Of all of my accomplishments and roles, the one I’m most proud of is that of Father for my awesome daughter - Erin, the love of my life.

This edition is dedicated to the memory of Professor Christa Wilkin (York University).

Christa was a contributor to The Study Guide and is a former student of mine, who became a friend. Taken too young and sadly missed.

He is a practitioner who has worked in a variety of industries and serves as Managing Partner of Laird & Greer Management Group. L&G is a corporation that specializes in the selection, implementation and strategic and operational integration of human resources information management systems within organizations: payroll, human resources, time and attendance management. Ian also serves as a Director of The Canadian Privacy Institute, an organization that provides training and consulting services regarding the practical application of Canadian privacy law.

After co-authoring three books on Human Resource Management Systems (HRMS) he is sole author of the HR Manager’s Guide to Managing Information Systems (Carswell 2014, ISBN: 978-0-7798-5681-7). He was also editor and chief contributor to the 2009 CCH Ltd. 2nd edition, “Privacy in the Workplace” (ISBN: 1-55367-268-2). He has taught the practical application of HRMS at the Centre for Industrial Relations at the University of Toronto, and is a frequent speaker at human resources, payroll and general management conferences in North America and abroad.

Ian Turnbull is a Past-Chairman of the International Association for Human Resource Information Management (IHRIM). He attained his CHRP in 1992 and is a Past-President of the Canadian Council of Human Resource Associations (CCHRA), a Past Chair of CCHRA’s National Standards Steering Committee, and past President of the York Chapter of the HRPA.

Ian has received HR Association sponsored training in the preparation of Knowledge Exam content and conduct of exam prep workshops.

I am proud of what Bob and I have accomplished. From the earliest days of the national certification we have, under Bob’s leadership, filled a critical void and provided thousands of CHRP/ CHRL candidates with the highest quality learning products at competitive prices. It is extremely rewarding to start and build a successful business that has had such a direct positive impact on the careers of so many.

Now if only my brilliant, talented, beautiful, supportive daughters would see the light and jump into HR careers!
