As old foes and new enemies close around him, Ridmark must fight for his life.

Or else the Frostborn will return, bringing eternal ice and darkness with them.

This book is another in the dreadful Frostborn series. What Moeller's has going for it in its somewhat interesting overarching plotline, it more than makes up for in repetitive writing (every book reminds us how the characters talk, how they walk, and how they fight, sometimes multiple times in the book) and unoriginal book subplots. Will not be reading any more of these books.

I read the first four and while i wasnt blown away by the storytelling, I was entertained. The story moves at a predictable pace, keeps the excitement up and doesnt overload you with side stories that dont pertain to the main characters. It is a constant building of I know its going to happen but you want to actually read it happen. In that way it is a very satisfying read and i did purchase the next one as soon as i finished this book. It has the feel of reading a game of dungeons and dragons play out and if you are searching for the next great epic or waiting on a book to come out this will certainly fill the void. Who knows, it may flesh out to be a great epic but despite the repetitive language, shallow and predictable characters, it is somehow a well rounded an easy read that you can enjoy for hours, knowing there is more waiting around the corner.

It is getting better with each book. A quest, but not an ordinary one. If there is magic being slung, it fits my definition of High Fantasy.

About the author

Standing over six feet tall, Jonathan Moeller has the piercing blue eyes of a Conan of Cimmeria, the bronze-colored hair a Visigothic warrior-king, and the stern visage of a captain of men, none of which are useful in his career as a computer repairman, alas.

He has written the DEMONSOULED series of sword-and-sorcery novels, and continues to write THE GHOSTS sequence about assassin and spy Caina Amalas, the COMPUTER BEGINNER'S GUIDE series of computer books, and numerous other works.
