Stephen Fry is one of my heros so I am a bit biased, anything he does is ok with me (he'll be pleased to know aha! ha!) No, but really, I couldn't put this book down. My highest standard for a book is when I'm away from it I worry about the characters! Sad I know! So I did worry about all the characters, even the evil ones in a different time and space and, obviously, you'll have to read it to see what I mean!

One of the most intelligent and well written books in a long time. Aberrant from most books in that it carries you along into this wonderful world that the benevolent and intelligent Stephen Fry has set up. Only half way through and already a fucking good read! :)

Very enjoyable, thoughtful novel. Explores the ramifications of what might happen if the worst of our history was changed. The new history might be even worse!

About the author

Stephen Fry was born in Hampstead in 1957 and, following a troubled adolescence, went on to study English Literature at Queen's College, Cambridge. As well as being the bestselling author of four novels, The Stars' Tennis Balls, Making History, The Hippopotamus, and The Liar, and two volumes of his autobiography, Fry played Peter in Peter's Friends, Wilde in the film Wilde, Jeeves in the television series Jeeves & Wooster and (a closely guarded show-business secret, this) Laurie in the television series Fry & Laurie. More recently, he presented Stephen Fry: The Secret Life of the Manic Depressive, his groundbreaking documentary on bipolar disorder, to huge critical acclaim. And his legions of fans tune in to watch him host the popular quiz show QI each week.
