As Arthur #1 ended, I still hadn't fully taken to Arthur, Gen, I loved from the start. It was clear to me from the second chapter that Blair had worked her magic once again and I found myself rooting for this couple with as much love as I have for my all time favourite characters Rae and Wulf. In this, the final part of the duet we see Gen come into her own, she finds her inner badass and takes the courts by storm, proving to all around her that she is one tough gal to be reckoned with. Even when it comes to cases all other solicitors have given up on. With Arthur we see beneath the veneer he shows the world, he finally opens his heart to Gen. But whatever you do, do not be mistaken, this is not a smooth ride into happy ever aftersville. When it comes to Arthur #2, lines drawn in the sand will be blown away, those expected to be relied upon are the ones holding the knife and strength and true alliances will be found in the most unexpected places. From the very first Blair Babylon book I read, I knew this was an author that hasn't thrown a book out just because she can, but because it's a true labour of love. Every detail, every aspect of the information in this book has been fully researched. Smaller details, I've often found overlooked by other authors such as using the correct phrases or words or descriptions when writing in Arthurs (British) viewpoint and US words when using Gens viewpoint were correct. This is one of the reasons I was drawn to Blair as an author. To say this book takes you through a rollercoaster of emotions is an understatement, I think I'd much prefer to liken it to going through the teenage dating years with your child. Harrowing, nerve-racking and tearful but oh so totally worth it. I always though Rae:BID was my favourite all time book, but this comes as a very, very, close second.

OMG – this is hot and suspenseful and wonderful!! Hard Liquor is the conclusion to Stiff Drink and what fantastic stories they both are! In Hard Liquor Blair Babylon managed to keep me on the edge of my seat throughout nearly the entire book. I’m really not sure I know how to review this without giving anything away – which I won’t do. At times it seems like there is no hope at all – for Gen and Arthur’s relationship, for Arthur to win the lawsuit his brother has brought against him, for Gen to gain the offer for tenancy she so desperately needs to pay for her mother’s care. Blair Babylon has once again managed to craft a story that has very funny moments, heart-breaking sad moments and an HEA that I was sure couldn’t happen (except that I know Blair always manages to give us one – eventually). For those who love a story with lots of detail and complicated characters, Hard Liquor is just that; it is definitely not a quick read. It is, however, a very satisfying and wonderful conclusion to Arthur and Gen’s story. I’d also better mention that it is also H-O-T, hot!!! The sexy time between Arthur (he’s a bit kinky) and Gen may make you blush! Blair Babylon will never be able to write fast enough to satisfy my thirst for new books by her. It’s a good thing there are other great indie authors out there to help keep me occupied until the next one is ready.

If you are looking for a refined yet genre-blasting story that will feed your intelligence along with your heart, then you have found the object of your obsession. On one side of a gaping, bottomless chasm, we have a woman who has learned to claw and sweat for every single inch of ground that she has gained to rise from the bottom of her mountain. She knows better than most the value of hard work and the wonder and satisfaction of earning each milestone that she has risen above. She is heading up the ladder of her aspirations, and nothing and no one will slow her down or stop her. On the opposite side, we have a man who lives life on the edge of society while charming everyone to stay in their good graces. His life appears to be charmed, but he is forced to even relinquish even a small amount of control to another, he is forced to see that not everyone is as simple as he once thought. Complexity is just a swirl of shadow and misdirection that swallows up the simple as seen by the mindless masses, but all it takes is one person to clear the mist that hides the very essence of a broken and lovely soul. Can love truly conquer the endless darkness between these two, or will the strict rules of life be the end of all that we have only just begun to see and understand? If any good advice exists, it would be to allow your heart to lead. Even as contrite as that might sound, it will not allow you to disappear in the dark shadows never to be seen from again. It will dare to pull you from your bed of quicksand and put your feet on solid ground. Our fantastic characters found this out the hard way. They were forced to trust blindly in the other especially against their better judgment. The courage and strength that they possessed is a true inspiration to the chaos and anger that swirls around us every day. Staying true to yourself will be the greatest test and accomplishment that you will ever achieve in your lifetime. Don’t underestimate those around you, and don’t let them fall away into despair. Grab their hand and pull them back to reason and hope before it’s too late. Blair Babylon is a testament to the extraordinary beauty, grace, and talent that is quickly fading around us. More than anything, we long to experience the pure and living creation that is well written and heart imbued hope in the form of words breathed into the universe that will eventually find its way in our very soul. Readers can breathe a sigh of contentment and relief to ingest and savor the incredibly soul nourishing and heart transforming words from this spectacular author. I have yet to read anything from her that doesn’t touch me deeply and sincerely every time I pick up one of her breathtaking masterpieces.
