ಕಳೆದ ಮಾರ್ಚಿ ತಿಂಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕಲ್ಕತ್ತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾರತ ಸಮಷ್ಟಿಯ ಸರಕಾರೀ ಭಾಷೆಯ ವಿಚಾರಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಶ್ರೀಮಾನ್‍ ಸಿ. ರಾಜಗೋಪಾಲಾಚಾರ್ಯರವರ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದ ಮಹಾಸಭೆಗೆ ನಾನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದ್ದ ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯ ನಿರೂಪಣೆಯ ಕೆಲವು ಭಾಗ ಮದರಾಸಿನ “ಹಿಂದೂ” ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಯ ೮-೩-೧೯೫೬ರ ಸಂಚಿಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಕಟವಾಯಿತು. ಅದನ್ನು ಕುರಿತು ನನಗೆ ಇಂಡಿಯದ ನಾನಾ ಪ್ರಾಂತಗಳಿಂದಲೂ ಅಮೆರಿಕ ಇಂಗ್ಲೆಂಡುಗಳಿಂದಲೂ ಬಂದ ಪ್ರೋತ್ಸಾಹ ಪತ್ರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಹುಬ್ಬಳ್ಳಿಯ ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧ ವ್ಯಾಪಾರಿಗಳು ಶ್ರೀ ಎಸ್‍. ಎಸ್‍. ವಾಲಿ ಅವರದು. ಅವರು ಆ ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್‍ ಲೇಖನವನ್ನು ಕನ್ನಡಿಸಿ ಪ್ರಕಟಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದು ಸೂಚಿಸಿ ಆ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಸಹಾಯದ್ರವ್ಯವನ್ನು ಗೋಖಲೆ ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕ ವಿಚಾರ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದರು. ಅದರ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನ “ಮೈಸೂರು ಮೆಷೀನ್‍ ಟೂಲ್ಸ್ ‍” ಕಾರ್ಖಾನೆಯ ಶ್ರೀ ಟಿ. ಶ್ರೀನಿವಾಸನ್‍ ಅವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಸಹಾಯ ಸೇರಿಸಿದರು. ಆ ಔದಾರ್ಯದ ಫಲಿತಾಂಶ ಈ ಸಣ್ಣ ಪ್ರಕಟನೆ. “ಹಿಂದೂ” ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬಂದದ್ದರ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಇನ್ನೂ ಕೆಲವಂಶಗಳನ್ನು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಸೇರಿಸಿದೆ.

It is relevant, even today. Still, there is the pressure of the Hindi language, on all Indians. Like the author says wisely, English and the regional languages are practical to use and live successfully.

This book demonstrates how much clarity DVG had on the question of language policy for India. His rationale for choice of any language is unarguably brilliant.
