This is my favorite translation of the Iliad. This is absolutely a must-read classic. The book is remarkably modern, which is to say, timeless, and is the first masterpiece of Western literature. Enjoy!

Very well written. I had to read this book for my High School Junior Lit. and I absolutely loved it. Definitely worth the time to read.

Richmond Lattimore (1906–1984) was a poet, translator, and longtime professor of Greek at Bryn Mawr College. Richard Martin is the Antony and Isabelle Raubitschek Professor in Classics at Stanford University.
