I am voluntarily leaving this review. This was a well written, thought out story. It will have you on the edge of your seat from page one with all the suspense and romance throughout the story. Jeremiah “Jim” had thrown his life into his career and never acted upon his crush on the waitress at the diner he frequented for work meetings. That all changes when the waitress, Calista, single mom, finally gets tired of waiting for him to take the first step. When both of their pasts and dangers collide, they have to work together to protect themselves and her daughter. Their chemistry is steamy, their love for one another is perfect. I love that they both are stubborn and determined to do what’s right for each other as well as her daughter. I can’t wait to read the rest of this series.

The second book in the series starts off soon after the first one ended. Jim is dealing with injuries sustained and finding the courage to ask Calista out. Lucky for him, Calista asks him first. Jim and Calista were perfect together. The author included the realistic elements of a relationship, with disagreements and protectiveness. I liked how Lacey was included, she wasn't just mentioned and forgotten about, but had actual characteristics! The story starts slow at first, but does pick up.

Jeremiah is a parole officer that is injured. Calista works in a diner and is drawn to Jeremiah. Sparks fly between them but he pushes her away because his life is dangerous right now. However, Calista isn't giving u on him and soon she and her daughter become a big part of his life. As he continues his investigation he learns that Calista has a connection to the person he is after. Will Calista end things when she finds out about his investigation? Can they be together with everything that has happened? This is a great story that will draw you in from the first chapter on. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
