About this ebook

New York Times bestselling author Mira Grant, author of the renowned Newsflesh series, returns with a novel that takes us to a new world of ancient mysteries and mythological dangers come to life.

The ocean is home to many myths,

But some are deadly. . .

Seven years ago the Atargatis set off on a voyage to the Mariana Trench to film a mockumentary bringing to life ancient sea creatures of legend. It was lost at sea with all hands. Some have called it a hoax; others have called it a tragedy.

Now a new crew has been assembled. But this time they're not out to entertain. Some seek to validate their life's work. Some seek the greatest hunt of all. Some seek the truth. But for the ambitious young scientist Victoria Stewart this is a voyage to uncover the fate of the sister she lost.

Whatever the truth may be, it will only be found below the waves.

But the secrets of the deep come with a price.

Wow I loved this book! It was such a pleasure to find out that the author I loved so much in a different genre had a psuedonym and a whole nother set of books. The way Seanan writes horror is perfect for me, leaving a lot of it in your head until it's right to reveal, and her writing style is incredibly poetic and evocative. I loved this book and look forward to more by Mira Grant :)

This book started off AMAZING! But it quickly fizzled, got interesting only to go back to the least parts of the story. The truly upsetting part was the ending, it was truly horrible and a really cheap cop out. There are some really interesting parts but there's also huge gaps between just filled with boring, unrealistic dialogues that had little to no relation to what was currently happening. I love scary mermaids but this was disappointing.

This book was right up my alley, and reminded me of a real life Mermaids: The Body Found episode from Animal Planet, and it also had the same feel of The Anomaly by Michael Rutger which I read last year, and very much read like a possible screenplay for a movie, which was a good thing. I liked the scientific backstory provided in this novel, which made it all the more engrossing a read for me. A solid 4 star read! And I hope this gets made into a movie.
