About this ebook

Ricki Sparks knows she can make a mean red velvet cake but can’t believe she’s let herself be talked into a blind date. When she opens the door to see the man she’s been secretly sweet on since the first day he walked into her bakery, she fears her heart will be demolished.

With a past like his, private investigator Garrett McBride doesn’t feel he’s worthy of a good woman’s love. Especially not Ricki, the sweet, beautiful baker. But it isn’t long before he admits to himself that he wants her for his own. He never suspects that the greatest danger to her may come not from himself, but from the deceitful woman Ricki has befriended.

Love may not be the only thing Ricki falls into along the way as she finds herself in a world of deceit and betrayal that may cost her life. Garrett must find her, before it’s too late.

It's okay to be kind and gentle but it's not okay to be timidly trusting and naive as the lady in this story is portraying. She is a walking target for scammers and bullies. She doesn't seem to have an inkling if a person is gay or not and has designs on her other than friendship. And turning away from the man who was just defending himself from a disgruntled ex of a client is unreasonable and unjustified..one can argue that she hates violence since her ex husband used to beat her but judging without knowing Garret's story is dumb. It's a very glaring fact as the story progresses that she is very stupidly gullible and has no self preservation whatsoever, endangering her dog in the process, and left her with nothing else.

"I was getting annoyed with the (fm)lead, because she was just too trusting and not seeing the signs that it was a crazy person she was letting into her friend zone. then I felt that she should have fought more when she figured things out. Go-Ziena!" over all I guess I got into this storyline more than I thought, so an overall OK read, but could use a bit more detail on the sexy times.

As someone that has been assaulted by another woman in this way made this story all the more uncomfortable and I put it down numerous times. I finally got through it and I dont know, it almost has an evil lesbian trope that I dont like, but again I experienced this before so I know it can happen. I would say if you can deal with the uncomfortable scenes with Deena you will enjoy the story.
