“The Bible reveals that the central significance of God’s intention in the universe is the testimony of Jesus and the overcoming of the church. This is also the central message of the book of Revelation. As the last book of the Bible, Revelation is the ending, completion, and conclusion of the whole Bible. Therefore, in order to clearly understand the ultimate issue of the entire Bible, we must look at the book of Revelation. The whole Bible speaks of the testimony of Jesus and the overcoming of the church. These two matters are very high, difficult to understand, and incomprehensible to the natural mind. The book of Revelation brings us to the heavens and opens the veil for us so that we may see these high and transcendent matters from the heavens.”

 

“The testimony of Jesus includes the victorious work accomplished by God in the whole universe. This work shows how God intends to express Himself and deal with His enemy. All of this has been testified in the Lord Jesus and is an accomplished fact. Now the Holy Spirit needs to work all of this into the church. When all of this is wrought into the church, it becomes the church’s overcoming. In the Lord Jesus it is all the testimony of Jesus, but when it is wrought into the church, it is the overcoming of the church, which is the corporate testimony of Jesus.”

About the author

Born in 1905 in northern China, Witness Lee was raised in a Christian family and educated in English-speaking schools. At the age of 19 he believed in the Lord Jesus Christ and consecrated himself to preach the gospel. Early in his service, Witness Lee met Watchman Nee and began to labor together with him. In 1949 Witness Lee was sent by Watchman Nee to Taiwan to ensure that the things delivered to them by the Lord would be preserved. In 1962 Witness Lee came to the United States and began to minister here. He ministered in weekly conferences, delivering several thousand spoken messages until 1997. He gave his last public conference in February 1997 at the age of 91. His major work, Life-Study of the Bible, comprises over 25,000 pages of commentary on every book of the Bible from the perspective of the believers' enjoyment and experience of God's divine life in Christ through the Spirit.
