About this ebook

An eye-of-the-hurricane view of storm chasing from the star of the Discovery Channel hit series Storm Chasers.

Only one in ten chases actually intercept a tornado-unless you're Reed Timmer. The thrill-seeking meteorologist and star of Storm Chasers has followed and faced down more violent tornadoes than anyone. Into the Storm brings readers into the mind of this man and his mission—collecting data on tornadoes and hurricanes that could save lives—in the terrifying, awe-inspiring world of big weather.

Into the Storm is also a fascinating look at the science of weather—what causes extreme conditions, its connection to climate change, and how a tornado gets its stovepipe structure.

This is a great read for those who were always into Storm Chasers when it was on Discovery channel, and wanted some kind of actual backdrop as to how Reed, Joel, and Chris became relatively famous. I have been into severe weather since I was a kid, and cannot count how many times I have watched Twister, or Night of the Twisters, (More than enough to repeat word for word with full expression of both while watching)... This gives a great view of Reeds passion, and the passion of those who chase, want to chase, or have chased. The book is a little short, and would love to see a new book detailing other chases, but is a great read. Easy enough to understand for kids who are into it, but not over-simplified. I read this entirely on downtime at work over a few weeks as I had time.
