This book was a pleasant surprise. I usually avoid older man/younger woman romance books at all costs. King's Crown took a slightly different direction. Although there was a 20 year age difference between Gentry and Kendall, Kendall was an old soul. She shouldered a ton of responsibility from an early age, and was still carrying a load for her family. Gentry had issues with his son's stemming from their mother's death, and his subsequent behavior during the years after her death. Gentry found a strong, independent, intelligent woman that have him both a reason and the strength to stand up to his former mother in law, as well as lay down the law with his sons. Gentry and Kendall have a number of situations to overcome such as money, jobs, family, etc. before they reach their HEA. It will be interesting to see how this series progresses. I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

It appears Gentry King has everything he could want. But since the death of his wife, he has only had one-night stands which he has felt compelled to stop when he saw that it had a bad effect on his sons. Kendall seems to always be struggling, with so many of her family depending on her. She loses her job, then finds her ex whom she was still living with has moved on to another woman, so she has to leave. So when she thinks she has a chance to interview for a higher-paying job, she is eager to comply, not knowing the man’s grandmother is manipulating her to marry her grandson, not to offer her a job. She is sent to the family's private jet to fly out with Gentry to meet Beck. But a snowstorm grounds them and the only hotel available for shelter for the next few days has a single room. Gentry keeps his distance from the woman who is to marry his son, especially with only one bed to share. There sure were lots of complications waiting to descend on Gentry and Kendall! It didn’t appear that anything was going right – or was it? Would Gentry and Kendall find a way to stay warm when the power goes out? What would Kendall do when she found out why she was really flying out to meet Gentry’s son? Would Gentry let her just walk away?
