About this ebook

Opening Hearts combines compelling characters, strong family relationships, and realistic conflicts to create a beautiful balance of heat, heartache, and happiness.

Pregnant and alone at 35!

Jessalyn O'Donnell returns from her best friend's wedding with a surprise of her own.   She knows how it happened – three sex-filled nights with a smokin' hot guy, known only as Sam -- but she has no way to get in touch with him.

When smokejumper Sam Ricci returns to his hometown after the annual firefighting season ends, he has no plans for fatherhood.  His lifestyle is too risky, and he loves his job – almost as much as he loves women. Everything changes when he runs into Jessalyn again and discovers her plans for single parenthood.

Sam doesn’t want to be tied down.  Jessalyn would rather go it alone than deal with an absent husband.  So why, when a twist of fate brings them together again, does it feel so right?

No Cliffhanger.  OPENING HEARTS can be enjoyed as a part of the series, or as a stand alone romance.

Do you like firefighters, secret babies and second chances?  If so, this Contemporary Romance is for you.

A nice light read. I personally enjoyed the honesty that the male character reflected before the plot thickened. Had a surprise event which i enjoyed and as this was my first read about a fire jumper, it was interesting, to be honest i didnt know it was a specialized profession.

Awesome book! I fell in love with Jessalyn and Sam and their story. I'm so glad I read this book. It was really fun -- emotional at times, exciting at others, and very steamy! Totally satisfying. Iona Findley shows a definite talent for creating believable, relatable characters with interesting lives and stories, which is something I love. I will definitely be reading more of her books. In fact I just ordered the next book in the series, and I can't wait to read it!

I'm a sucker for tropes like these. Overall, I would rate the book as OK. The characters were believable for the most part, but their transitions and the time skips were rather jarring for me. I couldn't quite keep up with the pacing, one moment the character would spend quite some time being fleshed out (or at least doing something). Unfortunately these scenes hit both the 'too-infrequent-to-sufficiently-make-the-character-anything-but-one-dimensional' and the ''ok-how-many-pages-is-this-going-to-last'. Also, while I don't strictly adhere to the Chekhov's Gun style character spotting, if you talk about an as-of-yet unmet, potentially problem-inducing side character more than 3-4 times, I kind of expect to meet them at some point...?

About the author

Iona Findley embarked on her career as a romance writer with her very first words, "love, love, love," which she carefully dictated to her mother.  Despite spurious rumors, probably the work of a jealous sibling, that her words might actually have been, "lub, lub, lub," (surely not!) or even "blub, blub, blub" (horrors!), Iona pursued a vocation in romance writing with enthusiasm.  Writing fulltime now Iona fulfils the promise of her early words crafting intriguing novels of "love, love, love."
