About this ebook

Captured by Comanche as a child, Molly Hart was assumed dead. Ten years later, Texas Ranger Matt Ryan finds a woman with the same blue eyes.

ā€œA rousing, spicy story of long lost love in the gritty Old West. The Wren will make your pulse flutter and your heart sing.ā€ ā€”Ann Charles, USA Today Bestselling Author of the Award-winning Deadwood Mystery Series

Ten years have passed since Molly Hartā€™s ranch was attacked, her folks murdered, and she was abducted. Now, at nineteen, sheā€™s finally returning home to North Texas after spending the remainder of her childhood with a tribe of Kwahadi Comanche. What she finds is a deserted home coated with dust and the passage of time, the chilling discovery of her own gravesite, and the presence of a man she thought never to see again.

Matt Ryan is pushed by a restless wind to the broken-down remains of the Hart ranch. Recently recovered from an imprisonment that nearly ended his life, the drive for truth and fairness has all but abandoned him. For ten years he faithfully served the U.S. Army and the Texas Rangers, seeking justice for the brutal murder of a little girl, only to find closure and healing beyond his grasp. Returning to the place where it all began, heā€™s stunned to encounter a woman with the same blue eyes as the child he canā€™t put out of his mind.

A sensuous historical western romance set in 1877 Texas.

This was an unforgettable and emotional first read for me by Kristy McCaffrey and it was free! This is the first book of the series and is perma-free on several retailers' websites. I was so captivated by Matt and Molly's story that I have already purchased the 2nd book, The Dove, and I have no doubt that I will read the entire series. It is always gratifying to lose myself in an enthralling western romance while discovering the storytelling talents of an author that is new to me. Take advantage of this free book, which can be read as a standalone, but be prepared to get hooked on this exciting series.

Excellent read. I particularly liked the way all the historic issues between the various cultures white, Mexican, native American are addressed honestly and fairly. Something you don't always see in fictional novels, I really appreciate the way this novel turns and twisted, to its happy conclusion. Also with hope for more

First of all, the Wren is one of the best romance novels I have read in a long time. It is a fast moving, touching storyline that allows two mentally and physically abused people to come together without any secrets, or hidden agendas. Molly Hart has endured things a child who later becomes a young woman could not survive. Matt, erroneously guilt ridden, endured physical torture that a lot of men would not have lived through. The author gives the characters depth and purpose. History and mystery are interwoven in this book and all comes full circle. It is a pleasure to have questions answered and loose strings tied at the end of the book. I would recommend this to anyone who likes westerns, romance, real talk but not profane, and mysteries.

About the author

Kristy McCaffrey writes contemporary adventure stories packed with smoldering romance and spine-tingling suspense, as well as award-winning historical western romances brimming with grit and emotion. Her work is filled with compelling heroes, determined heroines, and her trademark mysticism. Life is a wondrous endeavor, and she strives to bring that sense of awe and joy into the tales she weaves, along with in-depth research into settings and time periods. Kristy holds a bachelor's and master's degree in mechanical engineering, but writing has been her passion since she was very young. Her four children are nearly grown and gone, so she and her husband frequently pursue their love of travel to far-off places like the Orkney Islands or Macchu Picchu. But mostly, she works 12-hour days and enjoys at-home date nights with her sweetheart, which usually include Will Ferrell movies and sci-fi flicks. Kristy believes life should be lived with curiosity, compassion, and gratitude, and one should never be far from the enthusiasm of a dog. She also likes sleeping-in, eating Mexican food, and doing yoga at home in her pajamas. An Arizona native, she resides in the desert north of Phoenix.
