About this ebook

The second book in the USA Today bestselling rom-com The Wedding Pact series by NYT bestselling author Denise Grover Swank.

Divorce attorney Blair Hansen is convinced that marriage should be based on practicality, not passion. But as her own wedding approaches, she finds herself remembering her law school boyfriend, the only man she's ever loved, and regretting what might have been. Then a twist of fate lands Garrett back in her life, and the man who loomed large in her past is suddenly casting a shadow over her wedding, making her question everything. To complicate matters further, the job she loves is in peril, and she can feel the 'perfect' life she's fashioned for herself start to crumble under her feet. Could everything she's believed about life and love be wrong?

Garrett Lowry is a divorce attorney who's ready to settle down. The problem is that he can't find a woman who suits him nearly as well as the one he loved and lost. He broke her heart by playing the field after their break up--something he's always regretted. But after months of pining for Blair, Garrett stumbles across her in a freak coincidence--and then destiny keeps throwing them together, the coincidences becoming ever more unlikely. He's convinced it's a sign they should give their love a second chance, but Blair is engaged to another man--a man who is absolutely wrong for her.

Can Garrett convince Blair that a player once isn't a player forever, and that happy endings aren't just for dreamers?

I love Blair! I was an immediate fan of The Wedding Pact series after reading The Substitute. The Player lived up AND exceeded my expectations! Blair Hansen's marriage is looming, and it's anything but the romantic whirlwind romance her best friend Megan experienced. Blair is jaded about love, and she believes safe and steady is better than relationships relying on emotion and love. Dr. Neil Fredrick was not only a safe and steady option, but a necessary step in advancing her career. They might not be passionately in love, but the relationship works well into both of their career plans. Except for one thing ... Garrett Lowry ... When he walks into the hotel bar where Blair is stranded, her entire past threatens to undo the carefully laid future plans she's worked so doggedly towards. Her inherent mistrust of men, and the fact he broke her heart five years ago, only solidifies her resolve to stick with her plan of marrying Neil. Just like The Substitute, The Player is filled with such a variety of emotions. Despite Blair's tough exterior, you can truly sense her longing to give in to the passion she feels for Garrett. The humor is fantastic, and there were so many laug

In True Denise Grover Swank fashion, the story catches you from the first word and it doesn't leave you until the last sentence. The book is filled with romance, heartbreak, laughter and some pretty interesting characters. Both ones you will fall in love with and of course those you will hate. I was so trilled to read Blair's story. Considering how pragmatic and distrustful she was in the first book, I knew that for her to find her true love it will take an extraordinary man. Blair is independent and strong and of course she needs a strong man beside her. Unfortunately, that's not the man she is going to marry. If I have to be honest, Neil kind of gave me the creeps most of the time. Garret on the other hand, is a completely different thing. He is quite the man candy and he is also Blair's other half in every way. In a few words, this is definitely an interesting and fun read :) It has a little bit of everything: romance, deception, heartbreak, fun and of course some hot scenes that will definitely increase the temperature :) This review was originally posted at Living In Our Own Story Book Blog. I received an ARC of the book in exchange of an honest review.

Second Chance Love When I started reading this second installment of The Wedding Pact series, I was afraid I wasn't going to like it because I did NOT like Blair in the first novel of the series. I cannot begin to tell you how wrong I was! I'm not a lawyer like her, or by any means beautiful, but I identified with SO MUCH of Blair's backstory. She's a far more fascinating character than I thought she was. Denise crafted a well-rounded leading lady who is one super bad-a! Don't mess with Blair A.M. Hansen... she'll serve your bootie to you. The chemistry between Blair and Garrett was off the charts. It was clear in the last book how wrong Blair and Neil were for each other, and this book shows the reader why. It was great to see Megan and Josh living a happyily married life together! Grams made an appearance that was nothing short of hilarious. And A LOT of insanity ensued as cousins Neil and Garrett fought each other every step of the way. I thoroughly enjoyed The Player! With two books down, there's only one book to go. I cannot wait to see what Denise has in store for Libby in the third and final Wedding Pact series. *****FIVE STARS***** *My review is based on an ARC I recei
