My name is Skyla Messenger and I’m a dead girl walking. Not only is an entire faction of angels out to kill me, but I’m falling fast and hard for a handsome devil who happens to share my ability to read minds. And this island I’ve just moved to? I’m pretty sure it’s haunted. One thing is for sure, no angel in heaven and no devil in hell will keep me from my destiny. I’m about to settle this unholy war that’s abounding for my people, and I’m going to do it my way.

From New York Times Bestselling author Addison Moore comes a story of a girl who discovers she belongs to the most powerful angelic faction of them all. Two hot boys are warring over her and an entire faction of angels want her dead.

I could not finish this text. The author constructed such incredibly two-dimensional, unsubstantiated characters that exude all the warped characteristics of a stereotypical teenager's personality. Disgusting. The characters are unrelatable, and often have incongruency in their actions because of the authors poor manipulation of words and the disjoint, seemingly unplanned plot. God, I want to include examples, but the entire book is a literary nightmare. I'd rate this negative/10 if i could.

I find the writing difficult to follow. There are gaps in the story that are confusing and make it impossible for me to lose myself in the book. I found myself rereading sections trying to even understand what just happened. The grammar and spelling isn't great either. there were weird sections of story that felt purposeless, like it was just trying to get more words in for the sake of having words instead of really helping the story at all. I'm not a fan of the main character. I find her personality more annoying than anything, and she's not very believable. I feel zero interest in her "love" for Logan, it feels very fake to me. there's a lot of effort spent criticizing her family and it's just annoying now. the only reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1 is because the story at a high level seems interesting. it seems like there's potential, but idk if I have it in me to actually keep reading.

Where to start with this series... First, look at the price tag of the whole series before diving in because once you start reading, it's very hard to stop. Overall the series has a great plot even if it's not always executed well. Questions and plot holes are what keep the reader going from book to book. Many obvious questions will not even be addressed or answered until well into book 3 and beyond. Some chapters appear to end in the middle of a scene making you wonder if parts of the book are missing or if you're just losing your mind. It can be very frustrating at times. Patience is the key and hopefully, this series will end with everything finally being revealed.
