Heartwarming, emotional, sweet, fun, sexy and engaging romantic journey for two souls destined to be one yet to wounded to take the ultimate plunge. A Quick yet highly entertaining reading experience and wonderful escape. Kane Harmon is a hometown boy with a charm that is had to resist and a heart as big as the ocean. Halley Ward is a creative soul with a heartbreaking past and a need to hide in the dark where she feels safe. They are a sweet, passionate, interesting and easy to relate to couple that I could not get enough of and I am looking forward to reading more from Rosewood Bay.

Carly Phillips has the ability to write great characters that are real and relatable. Characters that you'd love to get to know or even be friends with. Halley was much more tortured than many of the other female characters I've read in Phillips' books, but that just made me feel for her that much more. She'd had a rough start to her life, being caught up in the foster care system for years before a wealthy aunt was able to track her down. And as with many kids who are put in the system, Halley suffered through things that no kid should have to deal with. Kane was a sweet, lovable character. He was very attentive to Halley and seemed to understand her better than she did herself sometimes. He gave her exactly what she needed even when it was just space so that she could figure things out for herself. He didn't really come swooping in to save the day, like many of Phillips' heros, but he saved Halley from a lonely, colorless life. These two had good chemistry, and a solid groundwork was laid down for the continuation of this series.

I loved reading this book. It was emotional, heartwarming and so different in having the main hero wanting to know what's wrong etc. Gallegos a damaged woman, reeling from being taken from her mom with her sister and thrown into foster care. After being taken from one because of lies of another kid she is placed into one with a couple where the father is a little weird and tries it on with her. Kane is a mechanic at the garage he works in and is called out for rescue Halley. They get to know each other and Halley trusts Kane enough to tell him a little of what she went through when she was younger. This is where it got a little emotional for me thinking of what happened to Halley when in foster care and that no child should have to go through that. Thank goodness for her Aunt Joy. Taking both the girls in. As Kane and Halley grow closer, her mom comes back on the scene after Joy won't give her money I suppose she thinks Halley is weak and will give her what she needs. She realises to late that her mom is no good and gets hurt in the process and pushes Kane away. Can Halley rationalise what her mother has done with her feeling for Kane and give her the happy future she deserves? A fantastic piece of writing that had me intrigued with how it would play out from the start until the end. I can't wait for Phoebe's story to see how her life pans out. I reviewed this book as an advanced reader copy
