About this ebook

Adaptations and explorations of Jane Austen's most beloved and well-known work have too often transformed Fitzwilliam Darcy into the stereotypical alpha male of Regency romances. In order to correct that popular misunderstanding, Darcy now offers within the pages of this novella a more "balanced" view of the relationship between himself and Elizabeth Bennet.

Very well written! I love the hilarious chapter titles. And also the fact that Darcy was in denial for so long and his arduous thought process at everything. But I'm having a hard time reconciling some of the scenes and timelines with the original Austen novel. For example, some of the conversations Darcy had with Elizabeth were a little off. And I thought that Darcy and Georgiana were alone in the curricle when they visited Elizabeth; that Bingley followed them on horseback. Also, Lady Catherine already had written an angry letter to Darcy before she confronted Elizabeth, so he should have not been surprised by her news... But all in all, a great version of Darcy's point-of-view. :)

I liked the book tolerably well, but I feel the language lacked the elegance I have come to expect in respects to Mr. Darcy. However I enjoyed the new perspective.

Fun to read and worth the modest price. Uneven writing. Suggest omitting the chapter headings.

About the author

Katherine Woodbury reveres Jane Austen, Columbo, classic fairy tales, and cats.

The author of twenty-five published short stories and seven novellas, Katherine (Kate) has spent her writing career tackling mermaids, bemused cops, Greek heroes, Joan of Arc, a devil’s assistant, aliens with wings, and a not-quite-dead Viking funeral bride.

Now she’s turned her writing hand to a mystery series with a no-nonsense detective and paranormal elements.

All good mysteries are grounded in social behavior. Kate began her apprenticeship of human idiosyncrasies with tributes to eighteenth and nineteenth century classics: A Man of Few Words (based on Pride & Prejudice), Persuadable (Persuasion), and Mr. B Speaks! (Samuel Richardson’s Pamela).

Next came the Victorian fantasy series, The Roesia Chronicles, so far including Aubrey: Remnants of Transformation; Richard: The Ethics of Affection; Lord Simon: The Dispossession of Hannah, and her most recent publication, Tales of the Quest.

As well as a writer (and reader) of fantasy, history, mystery, and romance, Kate (Katherine) enjoys watching classic sitcoms, collecting manga, and her day-job: teaching humanities courses for Maine community colleges.
