About this ebook

This is a dual memoir, both of the author’s life but, more importantly, that of the dogs that have accompanied her throughout it. It stretches from her earliest childhood memories of her first companion Bonzo to current retirement years with Tinker.

The aim of Rosemary’s story is to pay tribute to them, each and every one, with whom she has been privileged to share her life. They are a host of differing personalities that have been both an education and an inspiration. Best of all they have been constant in giving their love and companionship to her, through the highs and lows of a very colourful life. Highlights have included growing up in the industrial West Riding of Yorkshire, moving to the rural North Riding and later to the Scottish Borders – always accompanied by a series of wonderful dogs. The only exception being when the author sailed across the Atlantic as a deckhand and medic in 1992, however, when in perilous seas, she was comforted by thoughts of her Water Spaniel back at home.

Here is a blend of social history, personal recollections and love, including observations of the beauty of nature and Rosemary’s connection with it as she roamed across it with her dogs.
